My commitment
What this means for Ward 2
Ward 2 is growing, but growth must be responsible and properly planned.
New housing and development must be supported by adequate infrastructure, meaningful public consultation, and respect for the quality of life in our established neighbourhoods.
As your City Councillor, I will demand that infrastructure capacity keeps pace with development. I will work to protect our parks, green spaces, mature trees, and established community assets.
Residents deserve to be consulted before major decisions are finalized, not after plans have already been approved.
Responsible growth also means making sure our essential services can keep up. That includes public safety.
Residents are paying more in taxes, including significant funding for policing, but many are telling me they are not seeing that investment reflected in their neighbourhoods. They want to see visible enforcement, faster responses to ongoing concerns, and action on issues like speeding, dangerous driving, theft and community safety.
The question isn't simply whether we spend more or less on policing. The question is whether residents are receiving value for the money already being spent.
I will push for greater accountability around police spending and for resources to translate into meaningful, visible results in our communities.
I will support a balanced approach to housing that considers traffic, schools, public transit, emergency services, policing, and the capacity of essential city services.
Growth should strengthen our neighbourhoods, not overwhelm them, and every tax dollar should deliver value to the people paying it.
I’m Michael Carroll, candidate for Ward 2. Together, we can welcome responsible growth while protecting the communities we call home.
On October 26, vote Michael Carroll for Ward 2 City Councillor.
