The City of Mississauga recently announced that it will invest more than $170 million in transportation and stormwater infrastructure during the 2026 construction season.
This includes more than 30 new projects and seven projects continuing from 2025. The work will support roads, bridges, sidewalks, trails, stormwater systems and other important infrastructure across our city.
Mississauga already provides a useful online construction map. Residents can search for an address, see projects planned in their area and find project details and contact information.
That is a good foundation. I believe we can build on it.
When taxpayers are investing this much money, residents should also be able to easily understand whether major projects are remaining on time and on budget.
I am proposing a Mississauga Results Guarantee that would add clear financial and performance reporting to the information residents already receive.
For every major City project, residents should be able to easily see:
The original approved budget
The current estimated cost
The original completion date
The current expected completion date
Change orders and explanations for additional costs
Reasons for significant delays
Clear progress updates
The final cost and completion results
This information may exist across budgets, staff reports and meeting documents, but residents should not have to search through multiple sources to understand how their money is being managed.
This is not about opposing infrastructure investment. Mississauga must continue maintaining the roads, bridges, parks and stormwater systems residents rely on.
It is about improving communication, strengthening oversight and ensuring taxpayers receive the best possible long-term value from every project.
As your Ward 2 Councillor, I would provide residents with regular, plain-language updates on major Ward 2 projects and advocate for consistent cost and timeline reporting across the city.
Mississauga already shows residents where construction is happening. The next step is making it just as easy to see what was promised, what it costs and whether the expected results were delivered.
